A former gubernatorial candidate of the Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2015 general elections, Senator Simeon Ajibola has said that he is working to ensure the party is well repositioned in the state for subsequent elections.
The state chapter of the PDP has been engrossed in chairmanship crisis as fallout from its last state congress held at Stella Obasanjo hall, Ilorin.
Ajibola, who is loyal to the Iyiola Oyedepo-led faction of the party, described the crisis of the party as synonymous with democracy.
Speaking through his aide, Honourable Abolarin Ganiyu during a telephone chat with National Pilot on Sunday, the former guber candidate debunked insinuations that he has withdrawn from the affairs of the PDP in the state.
Simeon Ajibola is a personality that is steady and strong in Kwara PDP and has been working out modalities that will reposition the party for better performance.
He (Ajibola) never for once abandon in the party as some people claimed.
On the Oke-Ero by-election, Ganiyu said Ajibola participated in the election and was on ground to mobilise and prepare the party for success and lauded INEC for its role during the poll.
“He was in Oke-Ero, he did the arrangements, meeting and many other things with party members.
However, the election was an unfortunate one, everybody tried their best including the state INEC.
“With the efforts put forward by the party elders, it doesn’t yield the expected result, I believe the Oke-Ero people choose what they want, but it’s an unfortunate one”, he added.
On the crisis, he said Oyedepo is the authentic Kwara State PDP chairman adding the rancorous atmosphere that produced the two of them will be addressed.
“It’s normal as it happened but, we will call the two factional groups into family talk and unite them” he stressed.
