But for providence a 9 -year- old boy, Dare Kolade would have disappeared without a trace following a kidnap attempt on him, last Tuesday.
The boy was abducted by four men suspected to be kidnappers at Checking Point, Airport road Ilorin, Kwara State.
Narrating his traumatic experience to National Pilot, Kolade said he went to defecate in the bush at about 3pm and was waylaid by his abductors on his way back home.
“I went to defecate in the bush, when I was returning home four men approached me; two of them grabbed my hand and covered my mouth. They put me inside a sack, which was put inside the booth of their car.
He said that he was later released by his abductors when they began to feel uncomfortable with his utterances.
“As they drove along, I kept saying “My case is different because I am the redeemed of the Lord”. After about an hour into the journey, one of them said ‘This boy is disturbing us and I don’t think he will be useful, let’s take him back.’ I just realised they dropped me somewhere.
“I later discovered that I was dropped somewhere near NASFAT camp at Eiyenkorin in Ilorin.
According to him, he trekked from that point to a nearby church, where he met with a security man, whom he narrated his experience to.
“The security man made a phone call to his pastor, who instructed him to take me to my parents, ” he said further.
Speaking to our reporter at their residence, the boy’s father, Mr. Olusola Dare said the family was disturbed by the sudden disappearance of Kolade.
“When I came back from work on the fateful day at about 6pm, I was shocked when they told me Kolade was nowhere to be found.
“I was about going out to join my wife in searching for him, when he was brought home by the good Samaritan.
Similarly hid mother, Mrs Racheal Dare thanked God for the safe return of her child.
“I was scared that the worst might have happened to him when we searched everywhere and could not find him, ” age added.
