Bank customers using the Automated Teller Machine (ATM) at the Union Bank, Sawmill branch, Ilorin, Kwara State have continued to decry the dirty surrounding of the bank.
The drainage in front of the bank is unkempt and the smell oozing from it has become unbearable.
Some of the people who spoke to Pilot Business expressed concern over the health hazard the situation could cause to ATM users.
Findings by our reporter revealed that bank customers using the ATM cover their noses while carrying out transactions.
It was also observed that many bank customers preferred to withdraw cash from adjacent First Bank ATM.
However, an official of the bank, who preferred anonymity blamed the situation on a restaurant in the area.
The source noted that the management has approached the restaurant management but there is no positive result from them.
According to the source, the Kwara State Ministry of Environment has been formally notified of the development.
Meanwhile, bank customers experienced hardship due to epileptic ATM service at the First Bank, Sawmill Branch on Monday.
Only one ATM point out of the four machines installed at Saw Mill branch of the bank dispensed cash at about 9:30am.
Over 50 customers were seen on queue waiting to make transaction.
A staff of the bank who was contacted over the development simply said “they are working on it.”
This medium has equally observed that most of bank’s ATMs at both Saw Mill and unity branches of Ilorin stop functioning from 7pm on daily basis.
