Two Islamic clerics are cooling their feet in police net following their arrest for allegedly duping their client to the tune of N2.5m in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The suspects are Abdulganiyu Saad and Jimoh Saad of Alfa Yahaya Street, Oke-Agodi, Ilorin.
It was gathered that the suspects, who claimed to have solution to spiritual problems, used charms to extort money from their victim, whose identity could not be ascertained at the time of filing this report
According to a police source, the suspects hypnotise their victims in order to defraud them.
“They gave him black soap to bath with and black substances to drink. Thereafter they asked him to pay N2.5m into Abdulganiy’s account.
“The victim later regained his senses and informed his brothers of what transpired between him and the clerics.
“The case was reported to the police, which led to arrest of the suspects. Their house was searched and criminal charms and three SIM cards were recovered,” the source added.
It was later gathered that the suspects, who were granted bail, according to investigation, have been threatening to kill the complainant and his family members, which made the victim to petition the commissioner of police in a letter dated 27/2/2017.
The suspects were said to have been re-arrested while the case is still being investigated.
All efforts to confirm the incident from the Police Public Relations Officer of Kwara State Police Command, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi was to no avail as calls to his mobile phones were not picked at the time of filing this report.
…nabs 2 for robbery
The men of the Kwara State Police Command have arrested two suspects, Gambo Sumaila and Isiaka Sanni for robbery at Aderan village, Banni area of the state.
The suspects were said to have been arrested while trying to escape by the police in collaboration with men of vigilante group in the community.
The victim of the robbery, Joseph Kowope of Aderan village was said to be on his way home from Budo Doka, Kaiama when he was ambushed by the suspects and dispossessed of his motorcycle.
It was gathered that the suspects attacked their victim with sticks, which made him to fall off his motorcycle and they made away with it after beating him severely.
Kowope, reportedly, ran to a nearby village where he reported the case to the community head, which later led to arrest of the suspect.
The matter, our reporter learnt, was reported at the Banni Divisional Police Station and later transferred to Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department of the state police headquarters for further investigation.
All efforts to get the Police Public Relation officer of Kwara State Police Command, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi on the development proved abortive as calls to his phone were not picked at the time of filing this report.
