GSS wins maiden Ilorin East U-13 Cup

Government Secondary School Ilorin (GSS) has emerged the Champions of the maiden edition Of Ilorin East Football U-13 Chairman’s Cup, organised by Ilorin East Football Association after beating Okelele Secondary School 5-3 on penalties.

Alfa Issa opened score for GSS in the 20th minute before Usman Ibrahim levelled up for Okelele in 54th Minute. Effort by Both teams to increase the tally proved abortive as the encounter ended in draw.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of Ilorin East Football Association, Alhaji Toyin Olokooba, commended all the participating school principals for releasing their students and wards to take part in the tournament, noting that the championship was organised to encourage youth football from the grassroots, stressing that talents discovered will represent the state in the competition.

In her remarks, the TIC Chairperson of Ilorin East Local Government, Hajia Sidikat Ajibola praised the organisers for a befitting tournament, adding that the council will be ever ready to Support a programme which aims at Curbing Youth restiveness.

Also Speaking, the Chairman Of the Kwara State Football Association, Alhaji Busari Ishola disclosed that he was overwhelmed with the level of organisation, coordination and commitment of Ilorin East FA over the tournament, maintaining that efforts were on going by the Kwara FA to inaugurate other local government F A in the state.

Mallam Ishola added that U I3 Football tournament will be organised by the State FA during the 3rd term holiday for secondary school students in Ilorin to make them busy during the long vacation.

The finals Was attended by dignitaries from far and near, including the Media Officer of Super Eagles, Mr. Toyin Ibitoye, former Chief of Staff, Alhaji Ladi Hassan, Commissioner for Sports, Pharmacist Kale Ayo and others.
