NPFL: ABS, Enyimba settle for 1-1 draw in Ilorin

Substitute Stone Ebvevuwan’s 86th minute goal from the spot kick earned a vital one point for ABS Ilorin FC against the visiting Enyimba in the Nigeria Professional Football League played on Sunday at the Kwara State Stadium, Ilorin.

The interesting encounter played in front of mammoths crowd produced much moments of beauty from both sides from onset.

The Saraki boys who should have taken the lead in the first half, were denied by the central referee after ABS player; Metu was brought down by Eyimba defender.

The Peoples Elephant was the first to show real seriousness and zeal to win the game in the second half. Ismaila Gata beat an offside trap and located Enyimba strike Mfon Udor who tapped in from the close range in the 46th minute.

The Saraki boys was however dominated the game after conceding the goal, but ABS striker, Mohammed Mohammed wasted so many scoring chances. But their effort paid off in the 85th minute as Adeshina Gata, the younger brother of Ismaila was brought down in the box six area and the penalty was beautifully converted by Stone.

Meanwhile, Stephen Odey scored his 10th league goal of the season as MFM FC secured a hard-fought 2-1 win against Plateau United in a tough week 14 Nigeria Professional Football League top-of-the-table clash at the Agege Stadium on Sunday.

A second half brace from league top scorer Odey in the 47th and 88th (penalty) sealed the win for MFM.

Plateau’s goal was scored by substitute Peter Eneji in the 62’ minutes. With the win, MFM are now on 24 points and second behind Plateau. In Nnewi, IfeanyiUbah defeated El Kanemi 3-2.

A brace from Prince Aggreh and a late penalty from Ifeanyi Onuigbo sealed the win for IfeanyiUbah. Lucky Erimaya and Ibrahim Babangida were on target for El-Kanemi. At the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano Pillars beat Gombe United 2-0.

In other week 14 results, Abia Warriors forced Shooting Stars to a 0-0 draw in Ibadan, Lobi were held to a 0-0 home draw by Nasarawa, Niger Tornadoes pipped visiting Akwa United 1-0, while Wikki defeated Katsina United 2-1.
